In OpenRCT2, you can make a vertical lift on pretty much any track! Simply enable the 'Allow arbitrary ride type changes' cheat, and you can change the ride type to one that allows building vertical tracks. Then when you have built the vertical track, you can simply change the ride type back to what it originally was! Usually, the vertical track will become invisible when the ride normally does not allow vertical track, but I normally just hide it away in a building, or I place some fake track to make it look like the ride vehicle is on that. Some real river rapids or wild mouse coasters actually have a lift, so this trick should help you recreate one of those!
