Hey everyone! The Title Sequence is the parks you see in the background when you open OpenRCT2. These parks are chosen from the parks that are submitted to us in the OpenRCT2 Title Sequence Contest! If you want a chance at seeing your park in the background, read the rules below!
You are allowed to team up with other people for this contest!
Rule 1: You have to make a new park for a new title sequence. The park you submit must not have been released anywhere else. We would like to show off some of the features that were added in OpenRCT2, so it's a good idea to build at least some of the OpenRCT2-exclusive rides and elements like:
Hybrid Coaster
LSM Launch Coaster
New Go Kart track pieces
Other ride types with new track pieces
Don't feel limited by these rides though, anything goes!
Rule 2: The park should run without lag on most computers - The maximum number of guests in the park is 2000. There's no need to make a huge park, if your entry gets chosen only a few scenes will be used in the title sequence. Focus on making a few good scenes.
Rule 3: The deadline for this contest will be on the 12th of July at 19:00 CEST!
Rule 4: For this contest you are only allowed to use Objects from the base RCT2 game, and OpenRCT2-official objects. You are not allowed to use objects from the Wacky Worlds or the Time Twister expansions because those will not show up for people who don't own these expansions. You are also not allowed to use custom objects or custom palettes. Using Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 assets like the RCT1 wall edge styles, ground textures, or RCT1 exclusive trains is allowed but not recommended, as those will look different for people who don't have RCT1 linked. You can find a save file with all allowed objects at the bottom of this page!
Rule 5: The background void should not be visible in the title sequence, so make sure to have a lot of space around your park. We recommend structuring your park like an RCT1 scenario, with the park in the center and lots of landscape around the park.
Rule 6: Make sure the park does not look glitchy both in OpenGL and in Software rendering mode.
Rule 7: Have fun!
How to join
Preferred method (requires all team participants to be a member on DKMP discord):
Step 1: Build your map and decorate it!
Step 2: Make sure all team members are in the DKMP Discord.
Step 3: In any channel, type /submitpark. The bot will DM you and guide you through the submission process! Quick and easy!
Alternate method
Step 1: Join the OpenRCT2 Discord, Discord is completely free!
Step 2: Build your map and decorate it!
Step 3: When you are done with your contest entry, go on Discord, and send the save file to @Deurklink in a Private Message. For the name of the save file, I want you to simply use the name that you use on Discord. For example, if your discord name is Deurklink, for the save file name, use Deurklink.park. If you have teamed up with other people, put the names in alphabetical order with an & between the names, for example Deurklink & Marcel.park After you have sent the save file to me, I will look if it follows the rules, and I will check for anything you can still improve. You can resubmit your entry until the deadline of the round, even if I have already accepted it!
Step 4: Submit a story for others to read in the voting poll! You can do this by writing your story in a Private Message to Deurklink on Discord!
After the deadline has passed, I will put up a voting poll with all the entries. In this voting poll, everyone who is a member on the OpenRCT2 Discord and other communities where this contest is shared, including you, will be able to rate all the other entries, and leave a short review.
When the voting period is over I will announce the results in a Youtube video!
Good luck, and have fun!
