When Earth was destroyed in World War 6B, many space colonists skipped over Mars, despite it being the planet next over. This was because the Church for People Who Like Anonymous Sex (or the Anonymous Sex Church for short) dominated Mars in that time period, which made many 27th century space colonists feel uncomfortable.

A few centuries before that, the Mainline Illuminati had come to power on Earth and they persecuted the Church for People Who Like Anonymous Sex, causing many of the Anonymous Sex faithful to flee to the next planet over.

Now, many centuries later, Martian society has secularised and the various truth claims of the Church for People Who Like Anonymous Sex are not believed in anymore by anyone. Many of their old church buildings have been preserved however and are regarded as an integral part of Martian history and culture.
